Ownership and data
Nori is built so you can leave. Your community belongs to you, not to us.
What's behind it
- Encrypted: everything that's members-only is encrypted in transit and at rest. The servers only see encrypted data.
- Open source: Nori's code is open. Anyone can inspect it and run it themselves.
- No ads, and your data isn't sold.
Export your key
Your account is backed by a cryptographic key. You can download it to sign in with other apps or to run Nori yourself:
- Settings → Advanced → Download my account key.
- Confirm it's you with a six-digit code by email.
- Show my key, then copy or download it.
For admins
- Admin → Advanced shows your community's servers and the key your public page is published with.
- Founders of a service-managed community can export the community key under Constitution. After that, the service no longer acts for the community; this can't be undone.
- Admin → Danger zone → Delete community closes the community for everyone, permanently. Only the owner sees it.
- Handing a community over to someone else isn't possible in the app yet. Write to us if you need it.
Delete your account
Deleting your account is also confirmed with a code by email, in the settings.
